County Finals and NJSIAA Seeds Highlight a Busy Week

This Friday night promises high-stakes battles as teams vie for glory in the Morris County Tournament and Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament. Pope John and Voorhees clash in the HWS final at Centenary University, with Voorhees eyeing their third title, while Chatham takes on Morris Catholic in the MCT final at County College of Morris, where the Crusaders aim for a third consecutive MCT championship.

Chatham's undefeated Crusaders, led by junior guards Ella Kreuzer and Mia Semioli, are determined to secure their spot in history. On the other side, Morris Catholic's Twin Back Court of Mia and Mya Pauldo adds strength to their pursuit of victory.

In an exciting twist, senior Madison Miller, a transfer from Pope John, is confident in Morris Catholic's abilities. "Our talent, character, and defense will beat any team when we play at our best," she asserts.

With the NJSIAA Tournament seeds unveiled on Tuesday, the stage is set for intense play starting on February 21 and 22. This marks the final Morris/Sussex Top 10 before the season concludes.

Meanwhile, Morris Tech, led by seniors Harper Felch and Cortni Vnenchak, along with sophomore Priya Gandhi, aims for success in NJSIAA North 2, Group 2. The Devils, with a balanced lineup, face the possibility of meeting NJAC-Freedom foe Jefferson, a team that handed them two of their three losses.

On the other side, the Hornets of Hanover Park, led by junior Samantha Cicerone, look to overcome NJAC-Liberty opponent Madison. Cicerone, averaging 17.5 points and 11.8 boards, hopes to guide her team back to the North 2, Group 2 final.

Intriguingly, Morris Catholic boasts an impressive record, winning 35 consecutive games since January 21, 2023, and remaining unbeaten against NJAC teams since March 5, 2020. Their dominance sets the stage for an exhilarating conclusion to these highly competitive tournaments.
